29When Moses
came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands,
he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD.
30When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant,
and they were afraid to come near him. 31But Moses called to them;
so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to
them. 32Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them
all the commands the LORD had given him on Mount Sinai.
33When Moses
finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. 34But
whenever he entered the LORD's presence to speak with him, he removed the veil
until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had
been commanded, 35they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses
would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the LORD.
Psalm
50
1A psalm of
Asaph. The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the
rising of the sun to the place where it sets. 2From Zion, perfect in
beauty, God shines forth. 3Our God comes and will not be silent; a
fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages. 4He summons
the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people: 5"Gather
to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice." 6And
the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. [Selah] 7"Hear,
O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am
God, your God. 8I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your
burnt offerings, which are ever before me. 9I have no need of a bull
from your stall or of goats from your pens, 10for every animal of
the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. 11I know
every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. 12If
I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in
it. 13Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? 14Sacrifice
thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High, 15and
call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor
me."
16But to the
wicked, God says: "What right have you to recite my laws or take my
covenant on your lips? 17You hate my instruction and cast my words
behind you. 18When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in
your lot with adulterers. 19You use your mouth for evil and harness
your tongue to deceit. 20You speak continually against your brother
and slander your own mother's son. 21These things you have done and
I kept silent; you thought I was altogether like you. But I will rebuke you and
accuse you to your face. 22"Consider this, you who forget God,
or I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue: 23He who
sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may
show him the salvation of God."

Corinthians 3:12-18
12Therefore,
since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 13We are not like
Moses, who would put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from gazing at
it while the radiance was fading away. 14But their minds were made
dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It
has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15Even
to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16But
whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17Now the
Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18And
we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed
into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is
the Spirit.

Corinthians 4:1-6
1Therefore,
since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. 2Rather,
we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we
distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we
commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 3And
even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4The
god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see
the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5For
we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your
servants for Jesus' sake. 6For God, who said, "Let light shine
out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light
of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
Mark
9:2–9
2After six
days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain,
where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. 3His
clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach
them. 4And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were
talking with Jesus.
5Peter said
to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three
shelters--one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." 6(He
did not know what to say, they were so frightened.)
7Then a
cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: "This
is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!"
8Suddenly,
when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus.
9As they
were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what
they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
