Leviticus
12
1The LORD
said to Moses, 2"Say to the Israelites: 'A woman who becomes
pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days,
just as she is unclean during her monthly period. 3On the eighth day
the boy is to be circumcised. 4Then the woman must wait thirty-three
days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go
to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. 5If
she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as
during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her
bleeding.
6"
'When the days of her purification for a son or daughter are over, she is to
bring to the priest at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting a year-old lamb for
a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a dove for a sin offering. 7He
shall offer them before the LORD to make atonement for her, and then she will
be ceremonially clean from her flow of blood.
" 'These are the regulations for the
woman who gives birth to a boy or a girl. 8If she cannot afford a
lamb, she is to bring two doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering
and the other for a sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement
for her, and she will be clean.' "
Psalm
119:113–120
113I
hate double-minded men, but I love your law. 114You are my refuge
and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. 115Away from me, you
evildoers, that I may keep the commands of my God! 116Sustain me
according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed. 117Uphold
me, and I will be delivered; I will always have regard for your decrees. 118You
reject all who stray from your decrees, for their deceitfulness is in vain. 119All
the wicked of the earth you discard like dross; therefore I love your statutes.
120My flesh trembles in fear of you; I stand in awe of your laws.

Corinthians 2
1When I
came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I
proclaimed to you the testimony about God. 2For I resolved to know
nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3I
came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. 4My
message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a
demonstration of the Spirit's power, 5so that your faith might not
rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.
6We do,
however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this
age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7No, we
speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God
destined for our glory before time began. 8None of the rulers of
this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord
of glory. 9However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no
mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"—
10but God
has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep
things of God. 11For who among men knows the thoughts of a man
except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts
of God except the Spirit of God. 12We have not received the spirit
of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God
has freely given us. 13This is what we speak, not in words taught us
by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths
in spiritual words. 14The man without the Spirit does not accept the
things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and
he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15The
spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject
to any man's judgment:
16"For
who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?"
But we have the mind of Christ.
